March Overview
Because of my surgery early in the month, I did not draw cards everyday, but even so there were some trends worth noting:
Number of Cards drawn:
9 - Major Arcana (2 Reversed)
9 - Cups (4 Reversed)
7 - Swords (4 Reversed)
7 - Pentacles (0 Reversed)
5 - Wands (0 Reversed)
This indicates to me that the month involved a lot of big, lifechanging stuff (absolutely - this surgery and my marriage problems were the big events occupying my life in March and they both will have permanent effects on the rest of my life) that greatly impacted my emotional outlook (Cups). The biggest problem area involved communications and conflict (over half the Swords were reversed). However, physically, in spite of the challenge of recovering from surgery, my progress has been positive and my spirits and energy improved steadily over the course of the month (no reversals in Pentacles or Wands). The only Major Arcana card to repeat itself was The Tower. Little surprise there - this stuff has felt sudden, catastrophic and, in the case of my surgery, literally kicked the legs out from underneath me.
The one card that greatly overshadowed everything else was the 3 of Cups, which turned up four times in March, twice upright and twice reversed - much of the way I preceived and dealt with the events of March had to do with figuring out what I could celebrate in the middle of a lot of adversity, sorting out how much of that celebratory joy comes from external events and people and how much of it should be within me regardless of what's going on.
3s in general appeared more often than any other card, indicating a time when I've had to find ways to acknowledge and honor the babysteps made and not wait until a final resolution to give myself and others credit for what's happened already. In the case of this past month, 'babysteps' is nearly a literal term to use, as I have been relearning how to walk and develop the physical capability to move freely again. I have a long way to go - but I came a long way already in just a few weeks.
There was no particular Court card focus - no repeats and only 5 showed up in total. None of them were Wands, but there were 2 Sword personalities and 2 Pentacle personalities and within those two suits, 2 of them were Knights, indicating personality traits that involve intense focus. Certainly, my focus has been on the communication conflicts between me and my husband and on my physical issues.
All in all, even though there were fewer cards to work with in total, this is a pretty accurate summary of the month of March for me.
