I had hoped to do a reading with the Lover's Path Tarot yesterday, before I put it aside but there was simply never a good time to pay attention to one and in the end I decided not to force it.
The two card daily spread I used last week was actually a very fruitful way of getting to know that deck better, and I'm looking forward to coming back to it.
This week's deck is the Mythic Tarot by Juliet Sharman-Burke & Liz Greene & Tricia Newell, and it's the second oldest deck I have (after the RWS I bought as a teen back in the '70s). This was the deck that resparked my interest in Tarot and opened the doorway to every bit of progress I've made since.
There are a few quirks to it that I never even noticed until after I'd branched beyond it - the Major Arcana is not numbered is the one that comes to mind first. Similar to the Lover's Path and Goddess Tarot, this deck uses mythology as the framework for the deck - in this case, Greek stories and legends and as with the other decks mentioned, the minor suits each walk through one specific story from beginning to end.
The artwork has a flat fresco look to me as if someone hand drew and painted this on the side of a whitewashed wall. I've heard some people describe it as 'cartoonish' but it doesn't feel that way to me - the pictures are visually interesting and with lots of elements to explore.
This is one of my comfort decks - I'll enjoy visiting with it this week.
