The throne the king sits on depicts a figure with human face and long golden hair and beard, it's body made of blue knotwork that gives the suggestion of an elderly figure crouched next to the king.
Behind the king is a large golden knotwork coin that may be a window providing light for the king to read his scroll by. Between the king and the coin is what looks like a wooden cane topped with a golden animal head (I'm having a hard time making out the details and may be wrong with that).
The king's throne is set on a thick block ornately decorated with Celtic birds and animals and flowers. The background is a blue-green spiral pattern and the border of this card is composed of blue knotwork braid.
The figure on the throne seems to be either a guide for the king - a link to what came before him, and his own coming old age... this king is responsible for the management of intergenerational stability and maintaining the status quo.
The cane, if that is what it is, tipped with what I think is a dog's head, suggests to me that his strength - what he leans on - comes from domestication of the natural world.
The list in his hand (like Santa Claus, he's probably 'checking it twice') are the details of all that he has to keep track of.. it may be a bank ledger or inventory or a list of tasks to be done - in any event, he stays focused on the details and does not leave things to chance.
The golden coin, symbol of the element, is both currency and the window through which he perceives his world - it is through this coin that he is able to see what he values.
As my card for the day, this suggests that my role for now is to pay attention to practical details and the tasks involved in managing what I have.
And, because I woke up today with my third kiler sinus headache in a little over a month, the coin looks like a giant pain pill and I'm reminded that the Earth element is also about health - this King is also asking me to focus on my health and to take steps to take care of myself, not only for today but for the older person I am becoming.
Mostly, it looks like a day for taking charge of my home and my body, and being a good steward of both.
